Michael sat down with Kimberly to discuss mold toxicity, what symptoms we may have, how we can treat it, get rid of it, and have a cleaner, healthier environment for ourselves and our families.
During their discussion, Michael explained how he got into the remediation business after being a second-generation contractor. After continuing to have to re-remediate homes after Hurricane Sandy and witnessing countless individuals continue to be sick, he realized there must be some underlying issue.
When it comes to mold, Michael discusses the technical definition of the fungus and why it’s important to know; mold was not meant to grow in abundance in our homes. All of the spores that a mold colony releases will remain trapped within the walls of the home. He also identifies the perfect environment for mold growth and the importance of prevention by reducing these opportunities.
For individuals considering whether or not they have mold, Michael details what steps they can take to determine if they have a problem. Mold can grow in as little as 24-48 hours, so it’s important to stay vigilant for random opportunities. If someone finds a moldy issue or thinks they may have a hidden issue, Michael goes through the steps they should take to properly test and remediate their home. It can be challenging, though, because not all remediation teams use protocols that actually work and remove all of the contamination.
Indoor mold growth must be remediated properly because it can have a serious impact on the health of those exposed. Michael explains the effects mold exposure can have, why it triggers symptoms, and who is most sensitive. He also talks about the common symptoms he’s seen while helping individuals deal with mold. If anyone is concerned they have mold toxicity, he lists the possible steps they could take to determine if there’s a problem.
The best way to deal with mold, though, is to prevent it from growing in the first place. Michael goes through a few ways homeowners can help reduce the opportunity for mold to grow. He also lists his favorite mold-fighting products.
