If you have mold in your home (and many people do, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), we compiled a list of the best air purifiers to tackle this problem. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says that Americans spend 90% of their time indoors, and the concentrations of some pollutants can be anywhere from two to five times higher compared to outdoors.

“On average, we breathe 20,000 breaths a day, and most of those inhalations are taken indoors,” explains Michael Rubino, a mold and air quality expert and founder of HomeCleanse, a company that offers services and products that combat poor indoor air quality.

He warns that the harmful particles in our air like mold spores, mycotoxins (toxins produced by fungi), pollen, viruses, or bacteria can directly affect our health. “Air purifiers help to remove these microscopic pollutants so that they’re not circulating through our indoor spaces and making their way into our bodies,” says Rubino.
